A thermometer is an essential tool for candlemaking, as wax is very temperature-sensitive. Our thermometers have a large, easy to read display, and include a protective sheath for storage (not shown). The attached red ball is made of wood, so it always stays cool enough to touch. The metal clip allows you to clip it right to your melt pot for convenience. Temperature range is 75 - 400° F, in 5 degree increments. As long as an appropriate water level is maintained, this method prevents the wax from reaching dangerously high temperatures. Most waxes have a flash point of about 400° F, at which point the wax can catch on fire. But when double boiling, the wax never gets above about 208° F, which is well within the safe zone.
