100% Bayberry Wax- 1 Lb. Blocks100% Bayberry Wax- 1 Lb. Blocks
Bayberry wax, also known as "bayberry tallow" or "myrtle wax," is the rarest and most prized of all candle waxes. Our bayberry wax is 100% pure and natural, has a warm, earthy fragrance reminiscent of newly mown hay, and dries to a lovely olive green color. It takes about 15 pounds of bayberries to make just one pound of bayberry wax! Bayberry candles are especially popular around the holidays, and can sell like wildfire with good marketing and packaging. Standard 8 inch bayberry taper candles have been known to sell for up to $12 each, and only use about 1/10th of a pound of wax! Visit our candle formulas page for a taper formula using bayberry wax and beeswax. In the novel The Swiss Family Robinson, by Johann David Wyss, the shipwrecked family made candles using the wax from wild bayberries. Early American colonists also used the wax from bayberries to make candles. According to tradition, a bayberry taper candle burned all the way down on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve brings good luck for the coming year. As the saying goes: "A bayberry candle burned to the socket rings food to the larder and gold to the pocket." This wax is recommended for dipped tapers only. It will not burn properly as a tealight, votive, or pillar candle. Melt point is approximately 116° F (47 C). See our illustrated instructions for melting wax safely on www.CandleMagazine.com. Price shown is per 1 lb. block of bayberry wax.

Soy Based Container Candle Wax BlendSoy Based Container Candle Wax Blend
Our premium soy wax is a natural "one pour" wax made from 100% vegetable oil. It is blended specifically for container candles, and produces opaque, creamy looking candles. A mottled or frosted appearance is common on the tops, especially if scent and dye is used. Certain containers may require a top off, and a touch up with a heat gun may be necessary for a smooth top. Generally a larger wick is needed than for a paraffin candle of the same size. Square braided and cotton core wicks work well with this wax. This soy wax can also be used for votives and tarts. Use silicone mold spray to aid in mold release, and refrigerate if the candle still sticks. Vegetable stearic (palm wax) can be added for hardness to maintain an all-vegetable wax formula. This soy wax comes in an easy to use flake form, 50 lbs. to a case. Melt point is approximately 116° F (47 C); ongealing point is approximately 100° F (38 C). Recommended pour temperature is 100 - 110° F (38 - 43 C). See our illustrated instructions for melting wax safely on www.CandleMagazine.com. Price listed is per lb.
